Can I open an annuity account with Bright if I reside abroad?
This is possible; however, please note that in order to open an annuity account (an annuity being an individual pension), you are required to pay income tax in the Netherlands. If you do not pay income tax in the Netherlands, you will be unable to open an annuity account with us, although you may still accumulate assets.
You can do this by opening an investment account with us. Funds deposited into an investment account are freely accessible, and the investment process operates in the same manner as with a pension account. The downside is that contributions to an investment account are not tax-deductible. This is because you are not liable to pay income tax in the Netherlands, and tax benefits apply only to amounts contributed towards your pension.

Alternatively, see what it means for your pension account if you move abroad but remain within the European Economic Area (EEA).
